For Pops... Follow-up to VCT

This blog post is dedicate to POPS, since he has consistently reminded me that I haven't blogged since November, which is quite a shame.

Just because I stopped blogging doesn't mean I stopped working, fortunately. I have actually been working on a blog for my friends wedding which takes forever since I have limited access to internet. And I'm still not done because it takes like double time to upload pictures on the slow connections in this country.

Anyway...

After my Mobile VCT event in November, we had a meeting at the end of the month to begin formation of HIV Support Groups which are made up of People Living with HIV/AIDS(PLWHA) and people who want to support PLWHA. We meet to educate PLWHA about Positive Living (eating nutritious foods, exercise, psychological well being, social well being, etc.) and to create a support network for PLWHA.

Our first meeting had almost 50 people, the second meeting was over 100. It has been challenging to manage but effective and supporting of PLWHA. People really appreciate the group.

The community initiated another Mobile VCT program to follow-up after the 3 month widow period and to give other people an opportunity to test who missed the November program. 90 people tested the first day and over 50 the second day. This is a nurse putting blood samples in a centrifuge for the HIV test.

Ok, I'll have to post the other pictures later, it doesn't look like it's going to work on this 54mbps internet connection. I'll be back with a more complete post another day.
