Long Time, No Blog...

I’ve been horrible about blogging, about journaling about documenting my life in general. I realize the importance of documenting one’s life, so I’m going to put in a better effort from now on.

So I’ve been living in the NGO world for the last several months since June. I am faced with challenges, successes, and excitement throughout. I continue to learn a great deal in my daily experiences.

Recently, I took my first trip “home” after being away for 2 years and 5 months. Yes I have not been on a trip to the United States in that long. I was in for a bit of a culture shock. The most surprising thing to me was how much things and most people did NOT change, I guess it’s because I’ve changed quite a bit.

I was able to spend quality time with family, visit lots of friends, go to a couple favorite spots, eat some of the foods I missed eating. In Boston I was able to see many special people such as...

My number one blog fan, Eric a.k.a. "POPS"and me and a cuter smaller version of POPS also known as Amare!!
My good brotha from way back, Miguel...

My dear dear friend Georgie, who has been helping me help my parents from afar with everything I.T., and is just a dependable friend in general. Thanks Georgie for all that you do!
My Afro-Asian sista and best roomate of all time Helen Wong...Then I caught Aja Doll's birthday party, and saw my brotha Willie after forever...

My bunjee jumping partner Ani ... and I finally met her mom who had made friends with my parents while I was gone as they shook their heads over how crazy their daughters were to jump of a bridge... and we had the greatest Armenian dinner of all time.

I also found an old friend and sorority sister in Charlotte, my prophyte Kish and her gorgeous baby

and I had a grand Thanksgiving in Charlotte with my family.

The first weekend I shopped in New York City and visited some friends. I was able to swing my my Wellesley sister Ariana's place in the Village where we talked extensively about what a great idea it was to switch from a PC to a MAC...

There also happened to be an Ethos (Wellesley College’s Organization for students of African Descent) mini-reunion, so it was a treat to see lots of people I haven’t seen in about 4 years.

On our way to Charlotte we stopped in Washington DC where I had the opportunity to link up with some of the friends I met in Zambia; my old travelling partner and dear friend Beyola: and my friends Makeda and Bethany.

On our way out of DC, we stopped at the White House because my parents had never seen it, and I had never seen it up close.

And there were many more people I saw and hung out with. I appreciate all of them and it was so good to be in their presence again. Later I will post a few photos from my day trip to Amsterdam. I had a 12 hour layover on the way back to Zambia, such an interesting place.
